Armed only with a little knife and a tunic, off you go, to slaughter a bunch of goat-headed Satyrs tormenting a young fellow’s horse. Initially release on PC in 2006, it tells the story of an Ancient Greece beset by angry gods and overrun by all manner of mythological creatures.Īfter creating your character in a bare bones interface, you’re dropped straight into the town of Helos and told to head on down the road and fight off the invading nasties. But being a console gamer myself, I’d never come across Titan Quest, a similar hack ‘n’ slash RPG adventure from THQ Nordic. But Diablo is such a beloved beast (1 and 2 on PC 3 more-so on console), that it must be quite a daunting prospect for any developer to attempt to create something new or fresh in a genre Blizzard had a serious hand in defining.įor my money, the next best things is Torchlight, though contenders like Sacred II and Dungeon Hunter have made their own waves, too. I mean, no one moans about CoD-clones, do they, and there are certainly plenty of those. The thing about Blizzard’s seminal dungeon-crawling franchise is that it’s so feature rich that it’s hard to create something in the same genre without coming across as a cheap copy. Yeah, this isn't bad.Īs for Titan Quest developers Iron Lore, well, they're long-dead but a fair few members did go on to found Crate Entertainment and make new action-RPG Grim Dawn. The term “Diablo-clone” is used a lot in the games industry and not always in a positive way.
TITAN QUEST ANNIVERSARY EDITION MULTIPLAYER LAG HOW TO
"After our name change from 'Nordic Games' to 'THQ Nordic', we wanted a running start for our new identity and had to think about how to begin the new era with the most positive connotation possible (for a publisher)," the publishers say in the launch announcement.
TITAN QUEST ANNIVERSARY EDITION MULTIPLAYER LAG UPDATE
I don't believe the Anniversary update is coming to ye olde CD-based Titan Quest but heck, that's a minor problem for such a big gesture. If you don't already own it, hey, Titan Quest Anniversary is on sale. The huge balance overhaul, though, ooh that's a nice touch beyond what's necessary.Įveryone who owned Titan Quest on Steam is now upgraded to the Anniversary Edition, which includes the expansion whether you had it or not.

It sounds like everything you'd want or need to update Titan Quest for modern computers with our big fancy screens (UI scaling! more zooming!) and our not-wanting-GameSpy-anywhere-near-our-Internet (the Steam version supports Steamy multiplayer bits like Friend invites too, not to mention a Steam Workshop for mods).
TITAN QUEST ANNIVERSARY EDITION MULTIPLAYER LAG CRACKER
It's a cracker of a patch - check out the patch notes and coo as they keep scrolling down, down, ever down.
TITAN QUEST ANNIVERSARY EDITION MULTIPLAYER LAG SKIN
Unlike the terrible creature wearing the skin of Atari, the creature that's trying on the skin of THQ seems quite friendly so far. Cripes! The game's now sold on GOG and all. Everyone who owned Titan Quest on Steam is now upgraded to the Anniversary Edition, where performance is improved, bugs are fixed, balance is tweaked, GameSpy guff is cut, and oh, the Immortal Throne expansion is included free too. Today, in news I didn't think I'd be writing: peachy-keen action-RPG Titan Quest has received a huge update, more than ten years after its release.
